FIELD TRIPS – Bring your students on an informative trip to a real working recording studio!

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music. Come to Rock. Return to Learn.

MUSIC FIELD TRIP EXPERIENCE
Come to Rock, Roll and Learn.

Our Studio. Their time to shine.

Our field trip program is perfect for kids of all types. It provides some basic music ideas as well as a lot of insight into instruments, the recording process, and also teamwork and character development.

Pricing:

We can accommodate about 30 students and cost $325 per trip. We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. We understand that this could be challenging for a small group. Some groups choose to double up with another small group from their school or area.

Scheduling:

We try to schedule trips either on a day you might have parent-teacher conferences, a day off of school, or on Saturdays. After-school can be a bit problematic for our building, as we have our band program rehearsing in the evenings Monday through Thursday. During the summer months, we generally restrict trips to the weekends, as our facility is buzzing with music from morning to night with our summer camp program. With communication, however, anything is possible.

Program:

The program is a two hour program that consists of 3 parts. First we explain a bit about each instrument and play some for them. Then they get a chance to play each instrument. Second we go in our recording studio and talk about recording and what is possible with modern recording technology. Lastly, we record something ourselves! Usually this is a “singing” situation, as this is the one thing in which everyone can participate. We learn about listening back to ourselves and trying to do things as best as we can and Jason Gittinger, founder of the school, shares some stories about the world of music and it’s benefits to building character and teamwork.

Party:

Some groups like to make it a full-out “party” with food or snacks. We ask that they bring all of their own utensils, cups and napkins. We can’t do any cooking except microwaving in our kitchenette.

Bring your passion. We’ll do the rest.

In the process, people are motivated, excited, and learn that through attention to detail,  persistence, and a community spirit anything is possible.
