A Musical Community
Detroit’s Leading School of Contemporary Music for 10 Years
Personalized Music Lessons and Experiences For Kids And Adults
The best musicians in the world get their skills from mentors and experiences. At The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music® we strive to provide the best music lessons in all styles through professional mentorships and unparalleled experiences. Recitals, recording sessions, YouTube shows, band programs and live concerts at the regions’ best venues and events are some of the fun activities that we use to get our students the best possible start to their musical life. Stop Practicing… Start Performing®
With beginner music students, it’s important to get them started with the best skills or you could spend the rest of your life trying to undo incorrect learning. We don’t treat our beginners differently than our advanced students. We give them tons of experiences to put their skills to work, right away, so that they get the experience they need to grow and progress. They have so much fun in the process!
Some people take a while to get started on their music but that doesn’t mean they have to just toil away in a tiny lesson room with an instructor. Our adult students get the same high quality music lessons and experiences as our young students so that they can get started enjoying fulfilling their musical dreams now. We believe that having fun learning and making music with friends is something that every adult should have the opportunity to do.
We get a lot of students who tell us they would like to pursue music as a career. With those students we have an intense curriculum that sets out a plan for our students to understand what they need, what is expected of someone in our field, and where their own skills stand in that process. Some are headed to college programs. Some are headed straight into professional music gigs. It is fun to watch their passion come alive as they dig deep into their craft and into themselves to find the best they can be. Through the caring help and guidance of our teaching staff, they have a personal support network and professional music network from which to begin their exciting and fun life of music.
Our staff consists of some of the best musicians in Metro Detroit, who perform for and impact people all over the globe. We provide many support services to the music community in Detroit. Recording sessions, professional bands, production and logistic support, rehearsal facilities for traveling touring bands and productions are just some of the things that we are called upon to help. Our Founder and Executive Producer, Jason Gittinger, has been a mentor to countless professional musicians in not just Detroit but across the country. His vast network of contacts and caring leadership allows for us to connect the students of the school, the staff of the school, and professionals in Detroit’s music scene to each other all across the industry.
We draw the finest students from all over the Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Port Huron and Windsor region. Thus, we are conveniently located centrally in Royal Oak, just off 696 and Woodward Ave. For the beginning students committed to starting off on the right foot or the advanced students looking for a community of others like themselves, we are less than an hour away from everyone.
